Fall Family Fun~

It has been a busy time for our family. Having three children with active social outings to attend, keeps us always on the go, it seems. Between birthday party's, friends staying the night, Halloween party's, we are always taking one of the children somewhere. Last night we went to dinner to celebrate one of my friend's birthdays. What a blessing that was. To actually get to spend time with other grown ups!!! :) We took three of our children, Tristyn (the oldest child) had plans with one of his friends, so he did not join us. The food was wonderful, and the children really behaved well. It was a two hour dinner, so I was pretty impressed! At the very end, our little Justin was ready to go though, as he had not napped all day long.
Last weekend we went to the pumpkin patch. The children all had a very nice time. This pumpkin patch is awesome. It has all sorts of little rides and huge slides and a cannon that shoots pumpkins, good simple food, a little train sort of ride that takes you around the country. It would not be a pumpkin patch if they did not do the hay ride out to let you get your pumpkins. I had been fighting off a sickness, so I think the day kind of exhausted me a bit. It was worth it for the children to go though. They all had a blast.
I am almost done with our fall cleaning. This morning, I cleaned out both the boys and girl's closets. I took out the clothes and shoes they have out grown and bagged them up to give to friends. I plan to take them shopping for fall/winter clothing this week sometime. Tristyn is growing so fast his size 16 jeans barley are fitting him! He likes to call me short now that he is taller than me! :) The girls and Justin also are growing up fast too. One thing I can see is that time does go by quickly. I am going to try my hardest to enjoy the blessing of being a mother, while they all are still children. I will post some photos of some of the activities the children have done this week.

This week has been somewhat of a blur for me. I started to feel ill on Tuesday, but kept with my normal routine. Wednesday morning, I was clearly sick. I have run fever, dealt with a very heavy feeling in my chest from congestion, body aches, and a cough. It is now Friday evening, and I am still not doing much better. My body normally fights off illness rather quickly, but what ever this is seems to want to hang on. If I am still ill on Monday, I will make an appointment to see my doctor. One nice thing about this week, was one of my dear friends, made me this wonderful turkey noodle soup. I had not been eating, due to the fact that nothing sounded good. Her soup hit the spot. I have almost eaten nothing but her soup since she brought it to me. The kindness she showed me, touched my heart, and truly made this blah week, a lot brighter.

A couple of firsts for the children~

What a nice weekend we all have had. We even had some special firsts for two of our children. Lauren had a little friend stay the night on Saturday. They played school in the little school room, played with the doll houses, ate pizza and fudge bars, watched Tinker Bell and enjoyed some pop corn, and to top it off, they got to sleep in the living room, on their sleeping bags. The next morning I made them cinnamelts and scrambled eggs with hot coco. Then Isabelle's daddy picked her up, and we were off to church. After church, we ate lunch, and headed to the mall. This is where our 2nd event took place. Tristyn and Justin got their hair cut. Justin (who is three) has never had a hair cut, except by daddy. He actually was very good, and sat perfectly still. While at the mall, I could not resist stopping by bath and body works to pick up some pumpkin pie scented oil, for my oil burner. I just can't get over how a few drops can permeate the house and make it smell so wonderful! I have a buffet of scents to choose from now, and I just love them. Then we headed home for a while for some relaxation before our movie. We went to see Forces of Nature at the Imax theater. It was pretty good. All and all it was a very nice weekend for our family.

This weekend has been a very relaxing one, at the Green-Birdsall house hold. The six soccer games that were scheduled for today (Saturday) were postponed until next week. This was like a little gift to our family. I slept in until 10:00am, thanks to my wonderful husband keeping the children busy! It has been such a very long time since I slept in. I have stayed in my comfy flannel PJ's all day long. I made a wonderful lunch using a Friends recipe for home made tortillas. I made out of them, spicy turkey wraps, veggie chicken wraps, a personal pan pizza (for Lauren, who would eat nothing but pizza if she could.) and a cinnamon and sugar pizza for Justin with pink milk. I got laundry done, and the girl's tennis shoes washed and dried. I love my dryer because it has a attachment to lay shoes on so they don't clank around while they are drying. It is awesome! The shoes just look like new when they are done. I like everything clean, so this is a great feature to have on a dryer in my book. Tristyn had one of his friends sleep over last night, and tonight little Lauren is having a friend sleep over. It is her first time to have someone sleep over, so it is really neat. We are making pizza for dinner, and Steven (my husband) is actually making them up. I just made the dough. So I think I will read a bit, then call it a day! Relaxation is such a blessing, and I am really enjoying it today.

My mother's pumpkin bread recipe~

Mom's pumpkin bread recipe~

4 eggs
1 3/4 cup sugar
1 cup oil
1 can of pumpkin
2 cups of flour
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda

Blend and bake in a Jelly roll pan for 20 min on 350 degrees. If you don't have a jelly roll pan use a cake pan, but bake longer, just check it often after the first 20 min. (until a toothpick of fork comes out clean) This is a great snack during the fall and cooler weather, or to go with brunch or coffee. Enjoy!!!

Megan's birthday party~

This weekend was a busy one for our little family. Tristyn had a friend from out of town come to stay with us for the weekend. We had soccer games both Saturday and Sunday, and had a huge birthday party for Megan! Let's just say that coffee was my best friend this weekend! I was very thankful for some of my friends who stayed at Megan's party, and helped Steven and I to watch all those little girls. We served pizza, cake and drinks. The children had a blast playing on all the inflatables. To top everything off, last night, I could not sleep. (most likely from all the coffee I had consumed trying to stay awake yesterday) :) So today, I am still in my flannel PJ's and plan to stay in them for the remainder of the day! This is one of the best benefits to being a stay at home mom...when you are really not feeling well, you can just rest! I did of course have to clean my kitchen after feeding my little ones breakfast this morning. Thanks to my dishwasher, this is not that tuff of a job. I also vacuumed my living room, but that is all the cleaning I plan to do today. I like a clean house, but boy, do I need a little rest. The weather outside is very cool, and over cast today. I actually turned on our heater! I am serving left over pizza for lunch today. Now come December we Will do the entire party thing again to celebrate our little Lauren's birthday! Plenty of time to rest in between! I am thinking of Thanksgiving, as I am having company, and cooking a Thanksgiving feast! The holidays are almost upon us once again, and I truly am looking forward to them.

Soccer games~

As of now, our weekends are filled with soccer games. All four of our children are playing soccer at the same time this year. Needless to say, our Saturday mornings are full. Even our little three year old, Justin is playing! That is a cute site to behold. Lauren's favorite part of playing is the snack she gets afterwards...she loves food like her Mommy. This morning was quite chilly, as our Kansas weather has turned to fall! Even the winter sweaters and warm jackets did not cut the chill. We had to get hot coco to keep warm today! Soccer goes until mid October, then we will once again have our Saturday mornings back, to lounge around the house and eat pancakes!
